Sinks Pit is a closed landfill site located in a former aggregate pit situated in the south west of the parish and adjoining Hall Road. The site occupies about 9 hectares and is up to 15 metres deep. Land filling operations commenced on the site in 1969 and it was used mainly for domestic waste until its closure in 1983.
