Since around 2015 Residents of Little Bealings have complained of suffering pollution emanating from Sinks Pit.

A campaigning group+ was established to drive forward mitigation of their pastoral nuisance. In 2021 Dr Dan Poulter (then MP) called the most senior executives of SCC, ESC and the EA (the Agencies) resulting in the institution of a Community Liaison Group (CLG) to resolve issues and improve Residents’ local environment.

The “Mitigating Pollution from Sinks Pit” is written as a case study to describe the 10-year campaign, it’s success and residual issues which need attention.
